CORRUPTION TOOK ONE MORE

So the corruption has taken one more into its lap. It seems the present Congress Govt is unable to free itself from the snake of corruption. Still this giant is demanding more sacrifices. First it was the turn of Maharashtra CM Mr. Ashok Chauhan. He was involved in Adarsh Society scam. And then Mr. Suresh Kalmadi, the so called 'karta-dharta' of the Commonwealth Games. All these have been punished because of their leading role in corruption. And now, after a long wait, the Telecommunication Minister has resigned from the cabinet because of his role in 2 G Spectrum scam.
Here the question is not that how many has been sacrificed as a result of corruption. The question is "Will these resignations help in removing the giant of corruption from our country?" Or as it always be that the new scam always help in forgetting the previous one. It seems that the Congress has become a factory of scams where not only the members are taught how to create the biggest scam but also to tackle that scam in a proficient way.
The another reason behind these resignations seems to be to just only to calm the opposition. The opposition, on the other hand, is not completely proficient to tackle these scams. He only seems to show that he is keeping an eye on the govt's works and by making routs in the parliament he can combat these unlawful acts. It is a well known fact that because of these routs, a precious time and money of our country is going waste but these politicians seems to have no effect of this.
Now the question arises, what these politicians get by doing these scams. Will they get NAME or FAME or MONEY. It is clear that the name and fame they get is not good but on the darker side. Everybody, at least, the so called 'budhijivi' seem to look down upon them. Nobody praises them. Even the media call them by names. And if it is about getting money, then I can without any doubt call them such thieves who are breaking into their own houses. Our ancestors and freedom fighters freed this country from the chains of slavery and gave it in the hands of these so called leaders in the hope that they be the 'Preserver' but they prooved themselves as the 'Destroyer'.
Now it is upto the countymen that they can teach them a lesson. How? Only the countrymen know this.

  1. Dear Harish,
A few days before I drafted this lecture for one of my students. I did not imagine I would have to use it for your first post. For a long time, you might have been thinking about some appropriate subject from where you could start . And lo. You got yourself trapped in the words like corruption, cogress, opposition, public etc, etc. Lets stop further talking and read that lecture below where I justified myself for not sharing the general views of the mainstream media writers.

When we talk about the word 'corruption' there occurs the picture of the government officers and babus taking bribes from the public. It remains one of the most debated topics at print and electronic media. The presentation by these medias is in such a way as it is the most dangerous thing that our society is facing. Is it really a dangerous thing ? lets examine this topic dispassionately.

First of all lets us see the structure of our society. Our society is structured in such a way that about 20 percent of the total population has grabbed almost all the means of production of our country. These 20 percent people make the rich class as well as the middle class. The rest of the population is poor. It has to to sell their labor power in order to survive.

Furthermore, lets subdivide the upper class of 20 percent. The rich capitalist people never makes hues and cries over corruption. They understand very well that the source of the profit of their companies is the production work performed by the working class. They are also conscious that it is the class of the government officers and babus that helps make a shield to protect their profits. So they keep their lips tightly shut on the words like corruption.

But it is not the case with the middle class. Actually this class is always in struggle with the upper rich class and the working class. It cannot recognize the fact that the officers and babus are not the owners of our society. They are the servants of the ruling class who understand that the real looters of the wealth of our society is capitalist class. Hense whenever there occurs an opportunity to grease their palms, they do not let it pass away.

But the middle class is unable to bear all this. It also makes a large number of people who are busy in writing and speaking in media. The result of their writing and speaking has become the fashionable topic of the debates and discussions held even in schools and colleges.

I usually ask the working class the meaning of 'bhrashtachar' . The word does not make the part of their vocabulary. Why ? Because they do not have to deal with the officers and babus. Instead, their day passes toiling hard in farms and factories of the capitalist class. 80 percent of the total populace has no problem with the word corruption. So giving too much weightage to the problem of the middle class – a minority is not an honest posture from the intellectual class of our society.

Before closing my lecture here I would like to question the organizers of this lecture whether they understand the concept corruption in real context ? The total amount of the bribe received by government officers and babus is very small comparing it with the naked loot of surplus value of the toiling class. Are you here to cover all this by diverting the real issue to a less dangerous thing ?

My argument may look offensive to some of you. But if we are really serious then we will have to give up our tendency of escaping the real questions that need a deep study. It must be expected that the intellectual class of our country be more serious in finding the correct ideas. Well known writer George Bernard Shaw says that ability to getting correct ideas may be eccentricity for those who do not possess it. Thankyou !
